Global Sport University Network (GSUN)

GSUN is a collective of universities from around the world that aggregates sport-related research and expertise from every discipline. We harness that knowledge to both analyze sport itself and harness the enormous potential of sport to address timely, complex problems in human performance, product engineering and innovation, exercise and wellness, inclusion, and other societal issues surrounding sport. GSUN aggregates research, faculty insights and student energy to address topics that no one institution could fully address on its own.
Global Sports University Network

The network aims to be the connector linking industry, governing bodies, sport commissions, media and other key stakeholders with researchers, educators and higher education institutions.  GSUN seeks to be the worldwide trusted and respected source of higher-education knowledge, research and policy advice in sport.

The University of Michigan joined the Global Sport University Network in 2025 with two U-M faculty as part of the GSUN Leadership Council:

  • Ken Kozloff, co-director of HPSSC and Steven A Goldstein Ph.D. Collegiate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery in the Medical School, professor of kinesiology in the School of Kinesiology, and professor of biomedical engineering in the College of Engineering and the Medical School.
  • Feranmi Okanlami, director of Student Accessibility and Accommodation Services, founding director of U-M’s Adaptive Sports & Fitness Program, and assistant professor of family medicine, of physical medicine and rehabilitation, of urology, and of orthopaedic surgery in the Medical School.
