Lew Porchiazzo serve as a lecturer for the Human Performance & Sport Science Center. In this role, he provides instruction for students in Kinstudy 200 – Topics in Human Performance. His professional experience as a Strength & Conditioning Coach will bring practical experience to the classroom as he covers material related to a broad range of human performance.
He arrived to the University of Michigan in 2009 as a Graduate Assistant for Olympic Sports Strength & Conditioning within the University of Michigan Athletic Department, where he currently serves as Assistant Director. In this role, he directly supports Strength and Conditioning services for Women’s Gymnastics, Softball, and Men’s Soccer. As part of the Student-Athlete Health and Welfare team, he collaborates with his peers in other performance units to holistically address Student-Athlete development. In addition to his direct team responsibilities, he helps provide leadership to the Strength & Conditioning staff in administering services to all Olympic Sport Student-Athletes.
Lew attended William Paterson University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science in 2009 and competed as a member of the football team, having served as Captain in 2008. He completed his Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Eastern Michigan University in 2011.
Additionally, he is active in the profession, presenting at several clinics and conferences, collaborating with other units across campus, and making various podcast and social media guest appearances.
