Ken Kozloff, PhD is the Steven A. Goldstein Collegiate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Professor of Kinesiology, and is the Co-Director of the University of Michigan Human Performance & Sport Science Center. He earned bachelor’s (Materials Science and Engineering), master’s (Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering) and doctorate (Biomedical Engineering) degrees at the University of Michigan, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Molecular Imaging Research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School.  Since joining the faculty in 2007, Dr. Kozloff’s research is focused on understanding the underpinnings of bone fragility, adaptation, and injury across a spectrum of disease types and performance levels.  His laboratory is exploring the intersection between exercise, adaptation and metabolism by integrating in-lab evaluation of skeletal properties with real-time assessment of activity and performance through wearable technology, mobile health strategies, and novel imaging applications.

Dr. Kozloff actively collaborates with the University of Michigan Athletic Department on several research studies research and sport science initiatives.  His work has been funded by NIH, NSF, and multiple industry sponsors in including Apple, Samsung, Oura, and various biopharma partners.  Dr. Kozloff serves on the University of Michigan Advisory Board for Intercollegiate Athletics, and he has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Orthopaedic Research Society.  He holds an additional appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and lectures to students and residents on topics related to biomechanics and skeletal physiology.
